Exciting news from the first Special Olympics event of the 2024-2025 school year held in White County! A huge thank you to White County High School for their warm welcome to Livingston Academy. Coach Miller, Coach Qualls, and our dedicated Life Skills teachers and assistants cheered on our teams as they showcased their abilities in flag football, cornhole, and more. We are especially proud of our eleven Wildcats who represented us with pride, alongside our amazing peer buddies who supported them every step of the way. A special shoutout goes to our SROs for the escort out of town. Looking ahead, we can’t wait for the bowling event in November! Go Wildcats!
Thank you to State Representative Ed Butler for sending donuts this morning! We appreciate you and your generosity!
Awesome things have been happening in the Leadership Overton Youth Academy. Check out this press release, penned by our very own Emery Clouse, detailing their recent session on civic engagement.
Our Lady Wildcats basketball players were invited to participate in today's Food to the Rescue event in Cookeville, packing over 400 boxes of food. These will benefit families in need during breaks in the school year. We are so proud of these students and the positive example they set for their peers!
SENIORS: Please remember that caps and gowns are to be ordered by November 15th.
JUNIORS: Thursday is the ASVAB! This testing session will provide valuable information regarding your individual strengths and career opportunities. All TCAT and Dual Enrollment students are expected to be in attendance. Please make sure your Surface Go is charged and updated when you arrive at school on October 10th so that testing may begin as smoothly as possible. Following the exam, we will proceed with a regularly scheduled school day.
Kim Goodpasture's chemistry classes have designed and constructed working rollercoasters for their Engineering Design unit. Students were given a budget and had to meet multiple constraints for their roller coasters to meet project guidelines. It is always a treat to see our students' imaginations at work!
Did you know that OCS has an app? This year our district launched a new app along with redesigned websites. If you download the app you can have quick access to information from both the district and your child's school. You can get push notifications for announcements and emergency alerts. We are always looking for ways to improve our communications with families, and our new app is a great way to stay connected. Download it today from your phone's app store!

Livingston Academy's Homecoming 2024 kicked off in grand fashion! Class tournaments are a major highlight of the school year, and today's basketball games did not disappoint. Seniors defeated the freshmen in the girls game while sophomore boys took down the juniors; the gymnasium was nothing short of electric. A pair of sack races also took place: one between students and one between teachers. Today's dress theme was orange, and Hogeye nation showed out. The bleacher photos represent just a fraction of the overall participation. Thank you to everyone involved in making today so memorable!
LA Seniors: see the attached flier for more information on upcoming college campus tours.
Students in Mr. Tibbs's US History class participated in a Memorial Walk today. In remembrance of those that passed away in the World Trade Center attacks, students walked two miles: the equivalent of the 110 flights of stairs firefighters aimed to climb that fateful day. JROTC cadets led the way by bearing the American flag.
Students in Miss Benson's class put their scientific knowledge to good use, identifying trends within the periodic table.

Chemistry at Livingston Academy is off to a great start. Students' first lab covered properties of matter. The young chemists made observations and physically changed matter as well as making density columns. Most of all, students got their lab faces on!
